The Tall Green Woods, Part III
by Rosalind C. Rauschenberg
The sun lit up the sky. It was so beautiful and shining. Nicholas had fallen asleep at some point in the night, and Dominque was just starting to wake. She did not have the heart to wake him and thought he should get as much sleep as possible before they continued on their journey.
The Beaver and Kaki were waking up now as well. There was a funny sound coming from Kaki's stomach. "What is that noise?" asked Beaver.
"It is my stomach telling me I am hungry."
The Beaver laughed. "I can take care of that," said Beaver. He wandered out into the river and started to catch fish.
Long Before
by Siegfried Danzinger
Long before
Either you or I
There were the gods
And their mother was the Cosmos
So ancient was She
That her children knew not her age
Nor from whence She first came
The gods were not creators;
They were revelers
When they sang, a star was born
When they danced, a planet formed
And when they tired
Of life unending
They took human form
And when they died
They sang and danced no more
At least so far
As you or I can know
